Daily Care

After use

To preserve its warmth, hang the garment on a hanger after wearing so you don’t crush the loft of the down. Maintaining the loft lets the down trap warm air and retain heat better. We recommend storing it in a well-ventilated place. To prevent damage to the fabric, keep it out of direct sunlight.

Down Leakage

On rare occasions, feathers may work their way out through the weave or seams. If they come out along a seam, remove them by pressing tape onto the area and peeling it off. If they come out through the fabric, pinch the feather from the reverse side and push it back inside the garment. Finally, gently rub the spot where the feather emerged to make the mark less noticeable.

With Leather Yoke

As noted on the care label, we recommend using a cleaner that specializes in leather products. Many general dry cleaners can also refer your item to a specialist, so please check with a shop near you. As one example of a specialist, we recommend Koba Hikaku Co., Ltd.

Nylon

Dissolve soap or a mild detergent in water, then work the solution into a soft sponge or brush and gently scrub away the dirt. Afterward, carefully rinse only the areas where detergent was applied with water.

Leather

Remove dust and dirt from the leather yoke by brushing or wiping with a dry cloth. For heavier soiling, apply a small amount of leather cleaner to a soft cloth and wipe the dirt away. For routine care, apply a small amount of leather conditioner or cream to a soft cloth and spread it thinly and evenly over the surface. Then hang the garment on a hanger and let the oils absorb.
*Always test leather cleaners, conditioners, and creams on an inconspicuous area before use.

Mouton

Gently tap the surface to remove dust and dirt. For heavier soiling, dissolve soap or a mild detergent in water, work it into a soft sponge or cloth, and dab gently to lift the dirt.

Without Leather Yoke

The neck and cuffs touch the skin directly, so they readily pick up sweat and oils. Dissolve soap or a mild detergent in water, work it into a soft sponge or brush, and gently scrub away the dirt. If you are concerned about overall soiling or odor, wash the garment according to its care label. We also recommend washing it before long-term storage. Below is an example of how to wash it at home.

Fill a basin or bucket with lukewarm water and dissolve a down-specific detergent thoroughly.

Fully submerge the garment in lukewarm water and press-wash it gently by hand. For heavily soiled areas, rub lightly with a sponge, taking care not to damage the fabric.

When you are done washing, rinse thoroughly so no detergent remains. Any leftover detergent will harm the loft, so rinse carefully.

After rinsing, gently press the garment to push out the water held in the down. Once you have removed as much water as possible, wrap it in a bath towel to absorb the remaining moisture.

Once most of the moisture is gone, place the garment in a laundry net and tumble dry on a low-heat setting for about 20 minutes.

If the garment does not dry fully in the dryer, or if it cannot be machine-dried, lay it flat to dry in a well-ventilated spot out of direct sunlight.

Once the garment is completely dry, hold both sides of the fabric and give it a few gentle tugs to work air back into the down and restore the loft.

If a problem arises with one of our products, please first contact us through our dedicated form with the product name and a description of the issue. If a repair is possible, we will ask you to send the item and then provide a repair estimate.

For cleaning, you may also arrange this yourself with a cleaning service. To help preserve quality, we recommend using a specialist; as one example, we suggest Koba Hikaku Co., Ltd.


Repair examples and estimated costs (excluding tax)

  • Patching a hole with fabric: ¥3,000
    　We carefully repair tears or holes using closely matching materials.
  • Dot button replacement (per button): ¥500
    　We replace buttons that have come off.
    　*Additional charges may apply if the fabric is damaged.
  • Christy Vest / Jacket mouton collar replacement: ¥15,000
    　We replace a mouton collar worn from years of use with a new one.
  • Down Vest / Jacket collar replacement: ¥10,000
    　We replace the woven-fabric collar and carefully re-tailor it so the original design is preserved.

*For some products, matching the exact material may be difficult. In that case, we will use the closest possible material.


Shipping and payment for repaired items

  • Once the repair is complete, we return the item via Sagawa Express e-Collect (cash on delivery).
  • Please note that shipping and cash-on-delivery fees are the customer’s responsibility.
